Roller Coaster

Dad was having a good day today. He was more responsive and alert than the past two days. His fever seemed to have broke and he was looking much better.

But, this afternoon he vomited some of the stuff they've been feeding him through the peg-tube in his belly. Unfortunately, he hadn't recovered his ability to swallow yet, so some of it went back though his unprotected windpipe and into his lungs. If my Mom and I hadn't been there when it happened, he may have... I don't want to think about it. I ran to get the nurse and they began suctioning out the gunk. The doctor met us in the waiting area where we were told he could go either way and that they were going to put on a breathalyzer mask, I think that's the right description, to help get his oxygen levels up. The mask aggravated him as it can make the wearer feel like they can't breathe, even though they breathe better, technically, with it on, so his vitals spiked and they had to give him meds to calm him down. They were getting ready to x-ray his chest when we left tonight. I plan on calling in a little bit to see how he's doing.

I hate to keep asking, but we can use all the good prayers and thoughts you can send. Thank you.
